Afghanistan Opens 1406 University Entrance Exam Registration as Girls Remain Barred

Afghanistan’s National Examination Authority, under Taliban administration, has announced that registration has begun for students to take the 1406 general Kankor exam and the religious schools Kankor exam, while girls remain barred from taking the test this year as well.
According to the authority’s spokesman, applicants can register for the exam from the start of registration until 30 Qaws of the current year.
The spokesman called on applicants to complete their registration within the set deadline and prepare to take the Kankor.
The Kankor exam in Afghanistan is the main route for entry into universities and some higher education institutions. However, Taliban restrictions on girls’ education and schooling have meant that girls have again been denied access to this educational pathway for a consecutive year.
