Drone Attack in Peshawar Kills One Woman, Injures Six Others

The Pakistani newspaper Dawn has reported that a suspected drone attack in the Hassan Khel area on the outskirts of Peshawar has left one woman dead and six others injured. According to local sources, all the victims were members of the same family and were taken to a hospital following the incident.
The report states that in the initial hours after the attack, it was said that one woman was seriously wounded and in critical condition. However, later a local elder confirmed that the daughter-in-law of a man named Shermast had died in the incident.
It is reported that two of the injured, including Shermast and his 15-year-old son, remain under treatment at Lady Reading Hospital, while the other injured were discharged early Wednesday morning.
According to Dawn, the incident took place in the Chandwakka area, on the border between Peshawar and Kohat. This is not the first such attack in Hassan Khel; in April, a similar suspected drone strike caused minor damage to a mosque in the area but resulted in no casualties.
This attack comes as the Taliban’s administration announced on Tuesday night that it had conducted drone strikes in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, claiming to have targeted ISIS-related centers. Pakistan has acknowledged these attacks but stated that it shot down the drones.
Continued cross-border attacks and the lack of transparency regarding civilian casualties have raised concerns about the security and humanitarian consequences of such operations in border regions. This issue calls for independent investigation and clear accountability from the involved parties.
