Afghan Embassy Calls for Resumption of Oman Visa Issuance

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Muscat has announced that its chargé d’affaires, during a meeting with the Head of Consular Affairs at Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the resumption of visa issuance for Afghan citizens and addressing the issues of Afghan prisoners. The discussion also covered facilitating the transfer of passport information.

According to the embassy’s newsletter, Hafez Omar, the chargé d’affaires of the Afghan Embassy in Muscat, held talks with Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Mabsali, Head of Consular Affairs at Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on matters related to consular services and the concerns of Afghan nationals. He requested relevant Omani authorities to provide the necessary cooperation to ease passport-related procedures for Afghan citizens.

During this meeting, both sides also reviewed the situation of a number of Afghan prisoners in Oman and exchanged views on how to address their problems. No further details have been disclosed regarding the exact number of prisoners or any potential decisions made.

Oman, as one of the Gulf countries, hosts a significant number of Afghan citizens and laborers. In recent years, the issuance of visas, consular services, and following up on the status of Afghan nationals have been crucial topics of discussion between the Afghan representation in Muscat and Omani officials.
