Iran’s energy minister in Kabul for talks with Taliban officials

Abbas Aliabadi, Iran’s energy minister, arrived in Kabul on Wednesday morning, Oct. 7, to hold talks with Taliban officials on cooperation related to electricity, water and infrastructure projects.
The Iranian embassy in Kabul said Aliabadi will also visit the fifth Imam Abu Hanifa National and International Exhibition alongside his official meetings. According to the embassy, the exhibition is hosting domestic producers and representatives from more than 20 countries.
The visit comes as travel by Iranian economic delegations to Kabul has increased in recent days. At the same time as the energy minister’s arrival, three large Iranian trade delegations also entered Kabul.
Among these delegations, a 180-member delegation led by Mahmoud Sayedat, head of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, is due to meet Afghan traders and investors on the sidelines of the exhibition to discuss boosting trade, joint investment and expanding industrial cooperation.
