UN Urges Special Attention to Women and Girls Affected by Venezuela Earthquake

The United Nations Women’s section has stated that following the deadly earthquakes in Venezuela, women and girls must be at the center of rescue efforts and immediate humanitarian response. The agency emphasized urgent attention to the specific needs and circumstances of women during relief operations.
On Saturday, June 27, the organization shared a message on X, expressing condolences to the victims and offering deepest sympathies to the affected families. The message underscored the necessity of targeted care for the situation of women and girls in emergency conditions.
The UN Women section highlighted that in many natural crises, women and girls face heightened vulnerabilities, which is why their needs must be prioritized in relief programs.
The agency also announced its readiness to cooperate and coordinate with the United Nations, the Venezuelan government, and civil society organizations to support the humanitarian aid and response efforts. Expressing solidarity with the people of Venezuela, UN Women affirmed it will stand alongside the country’s women and girls in the aftermath of these earthquakes.
