Shibashak Mine Extracts Up to 300 Tons of High-Quality Coal Daily, Emirati Company Reports

The General Directorate of Emirati Companies has announced that the Shibashak mine, operated by the Emirati Northern Coal Company, extracts between 200 to 300 tons of high-quality coal daily in accordance with technical standards.
According to the Directorate, the Shakul, Jehun, and Qarmal mines also fall within the operational areas of the Emirati Northern Coal Company and form a part of the coal extraction process in the northern region of the country.
Officials have stated that the thermal value of the coal extracted from these mines ranges between 6,000 to 6,500 kilocalories, emphasizing that this level reflects the high quality of the product.
The General Directorate further said that the coal produced, known for its strong heat and lasting fuel qualities, is regularly supplied to the market and plays a role in meeting domestic energy needs. However, experts consistently call for greater transparency in reporting extraction volumes, revenues, and the use of mining incomes—an issue that could affect public trust and improve the management of the country’s natural resources under the current conditions.
