Land Allocation Begins for 700 Returning Migrant Families in Daikundi

Officials from the Daikundi Urban Planning and Housing Department have announced the start of land distribution for over 700 returning migrant families in the province. According to them, these families were deemed eligible to receive land after their documents were reviewed and legal procedures completed.
Esmatullah Salehi, head of the department operating under Taliban administration, stated that documents of more than 11,000 migrant families were sent from the central office to the department. Following legal evaluations and assessments, these documents were categorized, and in the first phase, over 700 families were identified as qualified.
Officials emphasized that the distribution process is conducted according to established principles and criteria to ensure that deserving families benefit from permanent housing facilities. However, no details have been provided regarding the exact selection criteria or how transparency in the process will be monitored — an issue that has consistently raised concerns among returning migrants in the provinces.
Some returning migrant residents in Daikundi have welcomed the initiation of this process, expressing that receiving land may alleviate some of their housing problems and difficult living conditions.
The program to distribute residential plots for migrants and returnees is also ongoing in several other provinces nationwide. If managed transparently and fairly, this process could play a crucial role in the reintegration of returning families into society.
