Israeli Media Warn of Rising Regional Tensions Following Tel Aviv Airstrike on Beirut

Israeli media have reported that Tel Aviv’s airstrike on the southern Beirut suburb of Dahieh, coinciding with the potential announcement of a deal between Washington and Tehran, could escalate regional tensions and cast uncertainty over ongoing diplomatic talks. These outlets have warned that the recent action may challenge U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance towards possible negotiations with Tehran.

According to media sources including Maariv, inside Israel there is concern about a renewed round of conflict with Iran if Tehran responds in any way. The reports emphasize that the timing of the attack was not accidental, with some observers interpreting it as a clear message affirming Israel’s freedom of action in Lebanon.

Israel’s Channel 12 television also questioned the White House’s reaction, stating it remains to be seen how Donald Trump, who stresses reaching an agreement with Tehran, will respond to this military operation. The channel suggested the move could jeopardize potential negotiations and understandings.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials claimed the target of the attack in southern Beirut was a Hezbollah commander. According to Channel 12, the individual is identified as the head of the group’s communications system. The Israeli military stated the strike was carried out in response to Hezbollah rocket attacks and targeted a command center in the area.

Israeli media further reported that Tel Aviv is preparing for a possible Iranian retaliatory missile barrage and has raised alert levels across different military sectors. At the same time, Qatar and Pakistan are said to have initiated intensive consultations aimed at preventing the escalation of conflict, as increased tensions could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts.
