Russia and China Call for Restraint Amid New Middle East Tensions

The foreign ministries of Russia and China have called for restraint and de-escalation in response to recent developments in the Middle East. Moscow stated that the United States and Iran must avoid exacerbating the situation and emphasized that targeting civilian infrastructure is unacceptable.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed the country’s readiness to assist in finding political solutions to the conflicts involving Iran. It added that dialogue and diplomatic solutions are the best way to prevent the crisis from expanding in the region.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Ministry, expressing deep concern over the escalating conflict in the Middle East, called for an immediate halt to the tensions. Beijing stressed that intensifying the conflict damages regional stability and that political means should be used to manage disputes.

In response to the European Union’s plan to include the names of certain Chinese companies in sanctions packages against Russia, the Chinese ministry declared its opposition to unilateral sanctions and stated that necessary measures will be taken to protect China’s interests.
