Over 3,000 Tons of Afghan Dried Fruits Exported from Herat in Two Months

The Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced that in the past two months, more than 3,000 tons of Afghan dried fruits have been exported to several countries, with a total value approaching eight million dollars. According to this organization, the export volume has increased by five percent compared to the same period last year.

Mohammad Yousuf Amin, the Executive Director of the chamber, stated that Iraq, Austria, the United Arab Emirates, neighboring countries, and several European nations have been among the destinations for these exports. He added that raisins, almonds, pistachios, dried figs, watermelon seeds, and similar products constitute the bulk of the exported goods. Some exporters attribute the rise in global market demand to improvements in quality and packaging.

Afghanistan, with its four seasons and diverse climate, has extensive capacity to produce both fresh and dried fruits. A large portion of these products are naturally and organically grown in orchards and agricultural areas, making them competitive in terms of quality in international markets.
