Taliban Spokesman Denies Presence of Foreign Armed Groups in Afghanistan

Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban administration, has rejected the presence and activities of any foreign armed groups in Afghanistan, stating that the forces of the administration have control over “the entire geography of the country.” Responding to recent remarks by Pakistani and Tajik officials, he emphasized that such claims are baseless.

Mujahid told Tolo News that the issue of foreign armed groups’ presence was raised even before the Taliban’s return to power, but according to him, no group is currently allowed to operate in Afghanistan.

These comments come after Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior previously announced that its Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, discussed so-called “terrorist camps” in Afghanistan with Tajikistan’s Interior Minister, Ramazon Rahimzoda, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting in Bishkek.

According to a statement released by Pakistan, officials from Islamabad and Dushanbe referred to the presence of 25 terrorist groups in Afghanistan and described the training camps and drug production facilities in the country as a serious threat to regional security. Despite these concerns, the Taliban administration has so far only completely denied these claims without providing documented explanations on how it verifies or addresses the neighboring countries’ security concerns. This issue remains a major point of tension between Kabul and regional capitals.
