Female Doctor Attacked in Acid Assault at Quetta Hospital, Pakistan

Pakistani media have reported that a female doctor named Dr. Mahnoor Nasir was the victim of an acid attack inside the Civil Hospital, a government medical facility in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Health officials stated that around 70 percent of her body suffered burns, and her condition has been described as critical.

According to hospital authorities, the doctor’s face, chest, legs, and other body parts were severely affected. After receiving initial treatment, she was transferred to a private hospital and is scheduled to be airlifted by ambulance to Karachi for further care.

The Young Doctors Association revealed that the attacker was a hospital employee responsible for cleaning the hospital elevators. However, official authorities have not yet released further details regarding his full identity or possible motives.

Pakistani police stated that security forces identified and pursued the assailant as he attempted to escape on a passenger bus. The police asked him to surrender, but he opened fire on security personnel, leading to a shootout in which he was killed.
