Severe Storm and Heavy Rain in Khost Leave Five Injured and Significant Damage

Heavy rains and recent storms in the center and several districts of Khost province have left at least five people injured and caused considerable damage to public property and agricultural areas. According to information from the Khost provincial press office, 16 vehicles, 40 shops, and three residential houses were damaged, along with nearly 200 jeribs of orchards and approximately 780 solar power systems destroyed.

Initial reports indicate that in the Kandyoh area of Khost city, the collapse of a building wall injured three women and two men. The health condition of the injured has not yet been officially disclosed.

In Gurbuz district, three residential houses were damaged and dozens of solar units destroyed. Additionally, in various parts of Musa Khil district, nearly 200 jeribs of orchards, agricultural crops, and pine nut products suffered damage due to the rain and storm, which may impact the livelihood of the local residents.

In the Sabari-Yaqubi district, in the Khalabsat market area, the collapse of a shop wall caused damage to 15 vehicles and destroyed about 150 solar power systems. Moreover, in Khost city, some radio towers and technical equipment, solar power systems, and office-related devices were also damaged.

The Khost provincial authorities have instructed relevant agencies to expedite the damage assessment process and facilitate aid to the affected families. Officials noted that a comprehensive survey is ongoing, and the final damage figures are expected to exceed the initial estimates.
