Taliban Appoints New Governor and Officials for Baghlan Province

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior announced that Abdullah Mukhtar was appointed as the new governor of Baghlan province in a ceremony held today (Tuesday). The ministry also introduced Mohammad Nabi Hamas as the deputy governor and Abdul Qayum Hilal as the security commander of Baghlan.
According to the ministry, the newly appointed officials have begun their duties in the province following the official introduction. No further details have been provided regarding their professional backgrounds or plans for managing civil and security affairs in Baghlan.
Baghlan is one of the important provinces in the northeast of the country and has faced security and economic challenges in recent years. The appointment of local officials by the Taliban administration without conducting electoral processes has consistently drawn criticism concerning the lack of public participation and transparency in local governance.
So far, the Taliban administration has not provided any explanations about the new governor’s priorities or specific programs to address the problems faced by the residents of this province.
