Pakistani Police Use Tear Gas on Peace Marchers in Peshawar

On Tuesday, Pakistani police fired tear gas at participants of the ‘Khyber Peace March’ in the city of Peshawar, an action that led to tensions in various parts of the city. Witnesses reported that the situation escalated when security forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd.

The marchers, carrying peace flags, emphasized that their goal was to demand basic rights and the establishment of lasting peace in their regions. They stated that despite the peaceful nature of their movement, they faced violent repression from the Pakistani government.

Organizers announced that this protest was launched in response to rising insecurity, targeted killings, and a new wave of terrorist activities in Pashtun areas. According to them, residents of these regions seek sustainable security and an end to the violence that disrupts their daily lives.
