UNICEF Rebuilds 8 Earthquake-Damaged Schools in Herat and Badghis Provinces

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that following recent earthquakes in the provinces of Herat and Badghis, eight damaged schools have been rebuilt, enabling thousands of children to resume their education.
According to UNICEF, the earthquakes destroyed parts of the educational infrastructure in these two western provinces of Afghanistan and caused interruptions in students’ schooling. With the completion of the school reconstruction work, students are now able to return to classrooms.
UNICEF added that alongside rebuilding schools, 1,300 educational staff have received necessary training to improve teaching quality in post-crisis conditions.
Additionally, educational packages have been distributed to 239,100 children. These activities have been funded by the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, the Islamic Development Bank, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Saudi Arabia Development Fund, and the King Salman Charity Foundation.
