Pakistan Army Chief Demands Taliban Eliminate Terrorist Havens in Afghanistan

Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, stated that Islamabad has only one clear demand from Kabul: to eliminate the terrorist group havens on Afghan soil. He emphasized that, according to Pakistan, the activities of certain groups operating from within Afghanistan constitute a direct threat to its security.

Marshal Asim Munir made these remarks at a ceremony held at the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi, marking the first anniversary of last year’s military clashes between Pakistan and India. He warned that any future hostile actions against Pakistan would face “very extensive and painful consequences.”

The Pakistani Army Chief also accused India of escalating what he termed “state-sponsored terrorism,” alleging that some activities targeting Pakistan are organized from Afghan territory.

The Taliban administration has not officially responded to these statements, but it has consistently denied the use of Afghan soil against other countries. However, the persistence of such accusations has raised concerns about security management in the country and has once again highlighted questions regarding the Taliban’s control over all areas of Afghanistan.
