Former Pakistani Islamic Party Leader Calls Fuel Price Hike an ‘Economic Bomb’ on Citizens

Siraj-ul-Haq, the former leader of Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami, has strongly condemned the recent fuel price hike announced by the government, describing it as a new ‘petrol bomb’ placed on the shoulders of the people. He stated that this decision comes at a time when Pakistani citizens are already facing inflation, unemployment, and severe economic hardships.
According to him, the rise in petrol prices will directly lead to increases in the cost of food and other essential goods, with the greatest burden falling on the poor and middle classes. Siraj-ul-Haq warned that continuing on this path could worsen the living conditions of families.
The former Jamaat-e-Islami leader added that if the government of Pakistan is incapable of resolving the economic problems faced by the people, it should at least refrain from decisions that impose additional burdens on them.
The increase in petrol prices in Pakistan occurs amid fluctuations in fuel rates across several Asian countries; a trend that usually has a cascading effect on the markets for goods and services.
