Dozens of Mines and Unexploded Ordnance Discovered in Jawzjan and Kapisa Provinces

Security sources in Jawzjan and Kapisa provinces have reported the discovery and collection of dozens of mines and unexploded ordnance left over from past conflicts. According to officials, these explosives were identified in the Khwaja Du Koh district of Jawzjan and some areas of Kapisa.
Security officials in Jawzjan announced that 20 rounds of 82mm mortar shells were discovered and seized in the Khwaja Du Koh district. They stated that this ammunition was remnants of past clashes and could have posed a serious threat to local residents’ lives.
Meanwhile, the Kapisa Police Command under Taliban administration stated that since their return to power, hundreds of mines and unexploded munitions have been cleared from the province. However, no exact figures on casualties caused by these explosives in recent years have been provided.
Explosive remnants of war remain a serious threat to civilians in many provinces. Over the past years, residents, especially children, have repeatedly fallen victim to mine explosions, highlighting the urgent need for clear and comprehensive plans to fully clear contaminated areas.
Officials have urged the public to immediately inform police upon spotting suspicious objects so that engineering teams can inspect the area and prevent potential incidents.
