13-Member Ghazni Climbing Team Scales 3,000-Meter Tergan Mountain in Bid for National Team

A 13-member mountaineering group from Ghazni province has climbed a mountain approximately 3,000 meters high in the Tergan area of Jaghatu district. Their goal is to secure a place in the country’s national mountaineering team. This ascent was part of their training exercises aimed at assessing and enhancing the physical and mental capacities of the athletes.

Haji Bilal Mujahid, head of physical training and sports in Ghazni, stated that conducting such challenging exercises is intended to develop more athletes in the province and create opportunities for their selection to the national team. He noted that previously, four athletes from Ghazni have successfully joined the national mountaineering team.

Farhad Azimi, president of the Mountaineering Federation, described training on the difficult routes of the Tergan mountains as a serious test for every athlete. He emphasized that these programs play a crucial role in strengthening the mental and physical abilities of mountaineers. He added that the height and tough trails of these mountains serve as an appropriate benchmark to gauge athletes’ readiness.

According to Azimi, the team members train regularly and have progressed close to national team standards. He praised the group as talented and stressed the need for greater support and the facilitation of competitions in other provinces to foster their growth.

Sports officials in Ghazni announced that the team will continue with even more challenging training sessions in the coming weeks to complete the necessary preparation for joining the national team.
