Afghanistan and Turkey Discuss Joint Trade Council to Boost Economic Cooperation

The President of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Turkish Embassy in Kabul to discuss expanding trade relations, increasing exports, joint investments, and establishing a joint trade council between the two countries.
According to a statement released by the chamber, Syed Karim Hashimi and Adin Yildiz emphasized strengthening economic cooperation and developing commercial ties during the meeting. Both sides highlighted the importance of creating a formal framework to coordinate between the private sectors of Afghanistan and Turkey.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment stated that forming a joint trade council could facilitate the identification of new investment opportunities and boost exports—an issue of particular importance for Afghan traders amid the current difficult economic conditions.
Following political developments and extensive restrictions under Taliban rule, Afghanistan’s private sector has faced numerous challenges. Traders have consistently called for streamlined trade processes, better access to regional markets, and greater stability in economic policies to enable the expansion of their activities.
