Taliban Distributes 9,352 Land Plots to Returning Migrant Families Across 11 Afghan Provinces

The Taliban administration has announced that over the past week, 9,352 land plots have been distributed to returning migrant families in 11 provinces of Afghanistan to facilitate permanent settlement. This information was shared by Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesperson of the Taliban administration, on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

According to him, the Committee for Permanent Settlement and Land Distribution for Migrants has allocated these lands to returning families to enable stable residency. However, no details have been provided regarding the exact locations of these areas, infrastructure facilities, or access to basic services.

Based on the released figures, the majority of land plots were distributed in Nangarhar province to 3,270 families. This was followed by Laghman with 1,260 families, Zabul with 960 families, Balkh with 934 families, and Jawzjan with 600 families.

Additionally, land plots were allocated to 517 families in Farah, 495 in Sar-e Pol, 550 in Samangan, 300 in Kunduz, 400 in Ghazni, and 66 in Bamyan provinces.

Fetrat emphasized that a total of 18,904 land plots have been distributed among returning migrants so far and that this process is “rapidly” ongoing. Amid a wave of Afghan migrants returning from neighboring countries, providing shelter and essential services remains a significant challenge, and transparency in land distribution and infrastructure development is a major demand among the returning families.
