Former Afghan National Security Chief Calls for New Narrative on Afghanistan at France Conference

Rahmatullah Nabil, former head of Afghanistan’s National Security, emphasized the need to establish a “new narrative” about Afghanistan’s situation through meetings and conferences held outside the country during a two-day event in France.
Nabil stated that such gatherings can pave the way for forming different perspectives and new narratives, which, according to him, cannot be freely expressed inside the country under current conditions.
He further explained that external assemblies provide an opportunity for political, civil, and human rights figures to express their views without restrictions. According to several experts, considering the extensive political and civil limitations under the Taliban regime, many national discussions have inevitably shifted outside the country.
The two-day meeting also included notable participants such as Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in Afghanistan. No further details about the specific topics discussed at the conference have been released.
