Taliban Administration Transfers Land of Six Kabul Districts to Municipality

The Taliban’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock has announced that lands belonging to six urban districts in Kabul have been transferred to the Kabul Municipality based on an order from the group’s leader. According to the ministry, the purpose of this move is to implement the development plan for Kabul city.

The issued statement did not provide details about the exact location of these areas, the size of the lands, or the transfer process. Additionally, the names of the specific urban districts included in this decision have not been officially disclosed.

However, in recent months, all or part of the lands of the ‘Omar Golestan’ and ‘Omid Sabz’ townships had been identified by relevant authorities as government-owned lands, a matter that had previously sparked reactions and questions.

Urban experts say that transparency regarding land ownership and the implementation of development projects is fundamental to urban management. So far, the Taliban administration has not offered further explanations about the execution process of this land transfer or its impact on the residents of these areas.
