Iran’s Foreign Minister Travels to China for Fresh Diplomatic Talks

Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, is heading to Beijing today, Tuesday, May 5th, as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts. He will meet with Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
According to official sources, the focus of the meeting will be to review bilateral cooperation and exchange views on the regional situation and certain international issues. This trip comes amid months of continuous consultations between the two countries at various levels.
Previously, the Iranian and Chinese foreign ministers spoke via phone on April 15th. During that call, Iran’s foreign minister expressed appreciation for China’s and Russia’s stance opposing the United States’ draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council, acknowledging their role in preventing escalating tensions.
In response, China’s foreign minister emphasized his country’s readiness to assist in advancing diplomatic processes and efforts to end the war.
This visit is part of a series of recent trips by Iran’s top diplomat. In recent weeks, Araqchi has also visited Pakistan, Oman, and Russia, holding meetings with senior officials including Pakistan’s Prime Minister, the Sultan of Oman, and Russia’s President, where he discussed Tehran’s views on regional developments.
