Fire Erupts on Ship Near Port Saqr, UAE, UK Maritime Agency Reports

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a maritime incident 14 nautical miles west of Port Saqr in the United Arab Emirates, where a ship caught fire according to received information.

The agency issued a statement on Monday saying the incident report came from a third-party source and advised vessels navigating nearby waters to maintain a safe distance.

The statement noted that the cause of the fire remains unknown and no details have been provided about how it started. It also emphasized that no reports of environmental consequences have been communicated so far.

Port Saqr, located in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, is a significant transit hub in the southern waters of the Gulf, and any incident in the area could affect maritime traffic. However, UAE officials have yet to release an official statement regarding the event.
