Severe Rain and Flood Warnings Issued for 11 Provinces in Afghanistan

The Meteorology Department of the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation has issued warnings for 11 provinces across the country due to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and the potential for flash floods.
According to a statement released on Saturday, May 12, rain is forecast for the provinces of Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Samangan, Parwan, Panjshir, Nuristan, Kunar, Nangarhar, and Logar tomorrow. Rainfall amounts are estimated to range between 10 to 30 millimeters in various areas.
The department also warned of the likelihood of relatively strong winds in the northern, central, western, southern, and southeastern provinces. Wind speeds are expected to range from 50 to 85 kilometers per hour.
In recent years, heavy rainfall and sudden flash floods in several provinces have caused significant financial damage and loss of life. Experts consistently emphasize the need for responsible agencies to prepare in advance and to provide timely awareness to residents in vulnerable areas.
