Israeli Sources Admit Widespread Destruction in Southern Lebanon

Israeli news sources have reported that the objective of the country’s military operation in southern Lebanon is not limited to confronting Hezbollah’s infrastructure but also encompasses extensive destruction across various areas in the region. According to a senior Israeli officer, the threat posed by Hezbollah’s drones has increased in recent months, with the Israeli military having countered hundreds of drones over the past two months.
This military official described Hezbollah’s drones as one of the serious challenges for Israeli forces on the southern Lebanon front. Simultaneously, field reports published in Israeli media indicate that a significant part of the army’s activities, instead of direct combat, has focused on the systematic destruction of infrastructure and buildings.
In this context, an Israeli commander stated that the ongoing operation is not limited to destroying military infrastructure but involves “the destruction of everything.” Haaretz newspaper, citing sources, reported that the Israeli army lacks an effective solution to counter Hezbollah’s drones and that the focus on demolishing homes has increased dangers for soldiers.
Despite these reports, the Israeli army announced this morning that the “Givati Brigade” continues to destroy what it calls Hezbollah’s infrastructure at the frontline defenses in southern Lebanon. Earlier, some Israeli media reported that the country’s military approach in southern Lebanon bears similarities to the operations conducted in Gaza—an issue that has heightened concerns over escalating destruction and its humanitarian consequences.
