Ukrainian Drone Attacks Disrupt Flights in Moscow
Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russia disrupted flights in Moscow, with the city’s aviation oversight office saying more than 30 aircraft were unable to land at the capital’s airports because of the security situation.
Moscow’s mayor also reported what he described as unprecedented Ukrainian drone attacks, saying more than 1,600 drones had been shot down across all defence lines. According to him, 450 drones were downed near Moscow and more than 250 others were targeted in repeated attacks overnight.
The Russian official also said some Ukrainian drones hit a fuel refinery in the area around Moscow. He claimed the attacks were aimed at disrupting Russia’s election, but said they failed to achieve that goal.
On the other side, Russia’s defence ministry said its forces carried out large-scale strikes on facilities linked to Kyiv that, according to the ministry, were being used for military purposes.
Moscow, the Russian capital, has repeatedly faced flight restrictions and drone attack threats during the war with Ukraine, but city officials described this latest wave of attacks as unprecedented.
