Afghan Information Minister Stresses Protection of Kabul’s Bala Hissar Fortress

Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haktani, the Minister of Information and Culture of the Taliban administration, during his visit to the reconstruction process of the laboratory, the ancient artifacts exhibition, the museum, and various sections of Kabul’s Bala Hissar, emphasized that the protection and maintenance of this historic site is the shared responsibility of all citizens.
According to a statement from the ministry, he stressed that comprehensive efforts must be made to preserve the historical values of Bala Hissar, solidify its original identity, and properly introduce it to future generations. He added that a healthy and documented presentation of historical artifacts can play an important role in strengthening the country’s cultural identity.
Bala Hissar in Kabul is considered one of the most important historical sites in the capital, with a history dating back to various historical periods. In recent years, parts of it have been damaged. Cultural experts have consistently emphasized the necessity of professional protection and the prevention of destruction or unprofessional interventions in this area.
While the Taliban administration has focused on reconstructing some parts of this complex, cultural authorities believe that sustainable preservation of historical artifacts requires clear planning, specialized monitoring, and researchers’ access to relevant information about these sites.
