Sano Pharma Boosts Annual Drug Production Capacity to 14 Billion Units

The Sano Pharma drug manufacturing plant in Kandahar province has announced that since the beginning of this solar year, it has increased its annual production capacity for 200 types of medicines from 6 billion to 14 billion units.

Officials at the factory say this increase in capacity comes following the expansion of production lines and the enhancement of technical activities. According to them, the company’s products include various medicines needed for the domestic market.

Kandahar is one of the important provinces in the south of the country, and the activity of manufacturing plants in this province can affect residents’ access to essential medicines. The increase in domestic drug production comes at a time when Afghanistan relies significantly on imports to meet its healthcare needs.

Experts believe that growing domestic drug production capacity can play a role in reducing dependence on foreign markets and strengthening the health sector, provided that proper quality control and organized distribution across all regions of the country are ensured.
