Construction Begins on $63,000 Suspension Bridge Over Hari River in Ghor Province

Construction has commenced on a suspension bridge over the Hari River in the village of Jam, Shahrak district, Ghor province, with a budget of $63,237. The project, located near the historic Jam Minaret, is funded by the UNESCO office.
Maulvi Abdulhai Zaeem, head of the Information and Culture Department of the Taliban in Ghor, stated that the bridge will be 96 meters long, nearly two meters wide, and 18 meters high. It is planned to be completed and operational within the next six months.
According to him, the lack of a bridge along this route previously caused significant difficulties for local residents and especially tourists visiting the Jam Minaret.
The Jam Minaret, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is situated alongside the Hari River and attracts numerous domestic and international visitors each year. Local officials hope that once the bridge is completed, it will facilitate easier access for hundreds of families and promote further growth of tourism in this historic area.
