China’s Defense Minister Begins Visit to Russia and Kyrgyzstan

China’s Ministry of Defense has announced that Defense Minister Dong Jun will travel to Russia and Kyrgyzstan from April 23 to 28. The visit is taking place at the official invitation of the two countries’ authorities.

According to the Ministry of Defense’s statement, during his stay in Kyrgyzstan, the Chinese defense minister will also participate in the meeting of defense ministers from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This meeting is scheduled to be held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a regional body comprising several Asian countries, focusing on security, economic, and political cooperation. China and Russia are considered key members of this organization.

In recent years, relations between Beijing and Moscow have expanded in various sectors, including military cooperation, major trade exchanges, and coordination in international forums. The recent visit by China’s defense minister is seen within this framework.
