Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy Detains Two Vessels in Strait of Hormuz Over Navigational Violations

The Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that this morning it seized two ships in the Strait of Hormuz for what it described as “navigational violations and unauthorized passage.” According to a report by Mehr News Agency, after identification, these two vessels were brought into Iranian territorial waters for inspection of their documents and cargo.

According to the IRGC, the ship “MSC-FRANCESCA,” described as linked to the Israeli regime, and another vessel named “EPAMINODES” were passing through without the necessary permits. Iranian military officials claimed these vessels endangered maritime security in this strategic waterway by tampering with navigation assistance systems and repeatedly violating regulations.

The statement said that this action is part of the “intelligent control of the Strait of Hormuz” aimed at ensuring maritime security. The IRGC Navy emphasized that any violation of the announced transit regulations in this route will be met with legal action following monitoring and investigation.

The IRGC Navy Command also separately declared that disrupting the order and security of the Strait of Hormuz is considered a “red line” by the force. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most vital maritime channels, through which a significant portion of the world’s energy transport and maritime trade takes place.
