WFP Stresses the Need for Continued Food Aid in Afghanistan Amid Ongoing Crisis

The World Food Programme (WFP) has emphasized that its food assistance is vital for thousands of vulnerable families in Afghanistan, especially returnees. According to the agency, for many facing hunger, bread means “life.” Saeed Aziz, one of the Afghans who recently returned from Iran, said that the WFP’s food aid has been lifesaving for him and his family. Like many other returnees, he has struggled with a lack of job opportunities and economic hardship upon his return. The World Food Programme, while expressing gratitude to its donors, including the European Union, stated that this support helps vulnerable families during one of the most challenging economic and humanitarian periods in Afghanistan. As the economic crisis and declining job opportunities persist in the country, aid organizations have repeatedly stressed that continuing humanitarian assistance is essential to prevent the spread of hunger across various regions of Afghanistan.
