Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nasrallah: Negotiations with Israel Not in Lebanon’s Interest

Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, emphasized in a phone call with the Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly that any official contact or negotiations with Israel are not beneficial for the people of Lebanon and that a ceasefire including Lebanon must be established before any such actions.

According to Lebanese media, during the call with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Berri stated that Israel is committing crimes in Lebanon and aims to displace the country’s residents. He described the situation, especially in southern Lebanon, as concerning — an area that has frequently been subject to Israeli attacks and military operations.

Referring to recent regional developments, Berri asserted that Lebanon and the Resistance Movement remain steadfast in their position and consider any formal negotiations with Israel harmful to Lebanon’s national interests. He also stressed that any ceasefire agreement must include Lebanon and that the country cannot be excluded from any potential accords.

In this phone conversation, both sides discussed and exchanged views on the latest developments in Lebanon and the broader region. The Lebanese Parliament Speaker expressed his appreciation for the support and official positions declared by Iranian officials in backing Lebanon and the Resistance.
