Trump Threatens to Seize Iranian Oil and Khark Island in Financial Times Interview

Donald Trump, President of the United States, stated in an interview published by the Financial Times that “my preferred option is to seize Iran’s oil.” He also mentioned the possibility of capturing Khark Island, adding that the U.S. might remain there for some time.
According to a report by Al Jazeera citing the British newspaper, Trump said, “Maybe we will take Khark Island, maybe not, which means we would need to stay there for a while.” Khark Island is one of Iran’s key oil export hubs in the Persian Gulf.
The U.S. president also commented on the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying, “We have not heard anything about him at all.” He further claimed that Iran lacks effective defensive capabilities and that the United States could “very easily” seize Khark Island.
In another part of his remarks, Trump asserted that the United States has bombed 13,000 targets in Iran, with about 3,000 targets remaining. He did not provide further details.
At the same time, the U.S. president said that negotiations through Pakistani envoys are “going well,” suggesting the possibility of a swift agreement. Iranian officials have not publicly responded to these statements so far.
