Taliban-led Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation Holds Coordination Meeting with Partner Organizations

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, under Taliban administration, announced that a meeting was held, chaired by Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, acting head of the ministry, with representatives from several partner organizations to improve work coordination and advance development projects.
In the meeting, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour emphasized the link between security and livelihoods, claiming that with the provision of security across the country, a reliable environment has been created for the operations of organizations. This comes amid ongoing reports from independent entities and residents across various regions about continued economic challenges, unemployment, and broad restrictions on social and civil activities.
The acting head of the Ministry also stressed the importance of “balanced development,” stating that development projects should be implemented based on the real needs of the people in different areas to ensure financial resources are utilized appropriately. However, critics argue that a lack of transparency, limited local community participation, and centralized decision-making within the Taliban administration hinder the achievement of balanced development.
Continuing the meeting, Mawlawi Sharafuddin Muslim, the Ministry’s Deputy for Planning and Policy, said the primary goal is to implement projects within the set timelines. He spoke of the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate with organizations and called for advancing projects within the framework desired by the Taliban administration—a point that consistently raises concerns regarding the operational independence of organizations and adherence to internationally accepted standards.
