Taliban Rejects Link Between Washington Incident and Afghanistan

Suhail Shaheen, the acting head of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, has claimed that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is attempting to connect the recent incident in Washington to the Taliban administration in an effort to damage its international reputation.
In an interview with an Indian media outlet, Shaheen suggested that foreign intelligence networks may have been involved in the incident and are seeking to portray Afghans as a global security threat.
Shaheen asserted that the Taliban’s position on preventing Afghan territory from being used to attack other countries remains unchanged, adding that no individual or group would be allowed to launch cross-border attacks from Afghanistan.
Despite the Taliban’s repeated claims that Afghan soil is not used against other nations, international bodies have frequently raised concerns over the presence and activity of extremist groups within Afghanistan.
Experts argue that the Taliban’s opaque regional ties, particularly with intelligence agencies like Pakistan’s ISI, place the administration at the heart of major intelligence conflicts. Critics say the Taliban tends to deny responsibility and blame others, rather than acknowledging its role in ensuring regional security.
