Egypt and Turkey Sign Strategic Cooperation Statement to Boost Bilateral Relations

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of Egypt, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, signed a joint strategic cooperation statement during the second meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council. The statement aims to expand bilateral relations between the two countries.
The agreement was signed during Erdoğan’s official visit to Cairo, a trip seen as a sign of efforts by both sides to rebuild and strengthen political and economic ties.
According to reports, the two presidents discussed ways to increase trade exchanges between Egypt and Turkey and reviewed the latest regional developments. Both parties agreed to raise the volume of bilateral trade to 15 billion dollars in the coming years.
Relations between Cairo and Ankara have been tense in recent years due to disagreements over several regional issues, including the situation in Libya and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. However, the signing of this recent statement indicates an effort to manage these differences through dialogue and cooperation.
Before traveling to Egypt, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, where he held meetings with officials from that country.
