Taliban says Muttaqi meets Iranian foreign ministry official

The Taliban administration’s foreign ministry said Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Mohammad Reza Bahrami, head of the South Asia department at Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

According to the ministry, the meeting discussed Afghanistan-Iran relations as well as regional developments.

Citing Muttaqi, the Taliban administration said he described relations between the two countries as expanding and stressed the importance of making use of available opportunities in various sectors.

The Taliban administration’s foreign ministry said the Iranian Foreign Ministry representative also assessed Kabul-Tehran relations as positive and said it was important to continue talks and engagements at different levels.

Iran is one of Afghanistan’s neighbours, and issues related to bilateral relations, migration, trade and regional developments are among the recurring topics of discussion between officials from both sides.
