Former Afghan President Karzai Condemns Pakistani Airstrikes, Calls for an End to Tensions

Following a new wave of Pakistani airstrikes on parts of Kabul, Kandahar, Paktika, and Paktia, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has urged Islamabad to abandon hostilities and adhere to the principles of neighborliness.

On Friday, March 12, Karzai condemned the attacks on his X (formerly Twitter) page, describing them as a severe violation of neighborly principles and international law. He emphasized that the continuation of such actions could further escalate tensions between the two countries.

The Taliban administration announced early Friday that Pakistan conducted a new round of airstrikes on several areas in Afghanistan. According to the administration, four people, including women and children, were killed in the attack on Kabul.

The Taliban further stated that Pakistani aircraft targeted a fuel storage site belonging to the private company “Kam Air” in Kandahar province. So far, Pakistani officials have not officially commented on these events.

The increase in cross-border attacks comes amid ongoing complaints from residents of border areas about insecurity and the absence of a clear mechanism to prevent tensions—a matter that requires responsible management and transparent accountability from both sides.
