Taliban Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani Visits Dili District in Paktika Province

Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting Interior Minister of the Taliban administration, traveled to the Dili district in Paktika province. He participated in a public meeting attended by local elders, influential figures, and youth, where he delivered a speech.

At the gathering, a local representative named Haji Mohammad Halim spoke, describing the presence of the Taliban minister as a “great honor” for the district. Sirajuddin Haqqani expressed appreciation for the “sacrifices of the people during the jihad” and described Dili as spiritually significant despite its economic poverty.

Emphasizing the slogan of unity, he urged the people to maintain their solidarity just as they had united against international forces in the past, now to preserve the “Islamic system.” He claimed that the Taliban administration is open to all people and stressed that religion and homeland should be prioritized.

Haqqani also called on the Taliban security forces to treat the public with kindness and respect the dignity of the citizens. This statement comes amid growing criticism of violent behavior by Taliban forces toward civilians in various parts of the country.

Taliban officials’ visits to the provinces are often seen as largely promotional, with little practical impact on improving the livelihoods or security of local residents. The people of Paktika face severe challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and lack of basic infrastructure—issues that were not specifically addressed in the minister’s speech.
