Taliban Forces Seize Over One Ton of Medical Drugs in Nimroz and Opiates in Herat

Security officials under the Taliban administration report that in two separate incidents in the Nimroz and Herat provinces, significant quantities of smuggled medical drugs and narcotics were discovered and confiscated.

A spokesperson for the Nimroz Security Command stated that forces from the Zaranj–Delaram Highway Battalion prevented the transfer of 159 cartons of medical drugs, weighing a total of 1,391 kilograms. According to the spokesperson, the shipment was loaded onto a Suzuki vehicle and was being transported for smuggling to Helmand province.

Security officials added that two individuals have been arrested in connection with this case, and investigations are ongoing. However, no further details have been provided regarding the source of the drugs or the intended destination of the smuggling operation.

Simultaneously, the press office of the Herat Security Command announced in a statement that personnel from the province’s Highway Battalion uncovered and seized 170 kilograms of opium during a discovery operation along the Herat–Farah highway.

According to the statement, the narcotics were expertly concealed inside a private vehicle. One individual has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently under security forces’ supervision.
