UK Prime Minister Stays Firm Against Trump’s Pressure on Iran Policy

Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has declared that despite pressure from US President Donald Trump, London will not join a war against Iran. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, he emphasized that the UK’s stance on the matter will not change.

According to the BBC, in response to a question regarding Trump’s threat to potentially withdraw US support for the UK, Starmer acknowledged the significant pressure he has faced to reconsider his decision. However, he stressed that as Prime Minister, he makes decisions based on the national interests of Britain.

The UK Prime Minister also addressed speculation about a cooling relationship with the US President, stating that his country has no intention of choosing between Europe and the United States. He added that it is in London’s interest to maintain strong relations with both the US and European countries simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said the war with Iran could end within two to three weeks and that the responsibility for keeping the strategic Strait of Hormuz open would be handed over to the countries that use this vital energy corridor. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the key energy transit routes in the region.
