The Department of Information and Culture of Daykundi province has announced that recent heavy rains have completely or partially destroyed at least 25 residential houses in the province. Additionally, approximately 57 acres of farmland have been damaged, nearly 80 kilometers of roads have been affected, and 788 fruit-bearing and non-fruit-bearing trees have been lost.

According to the department’s newsletter, these figures are preliminary and subject to change. The damages have been reported in the districts of Kiti, Khedir, Ashtarlay, Shahristan, as well as in the provincial center of Daykundi.

Daykundi, a mountainous province, faces natural hazards such as floods and rural infrastructure destruction every year during the rainy season. Residents have previously voiced concerns about the lack of immediate relief facilities and the vulnerability of roads and farmlands to natural disasters.
