Yemeni Forces Confirm Missile Attack on Southern Israel in Support of Iran and Allies

Yemeni armed forces have confirmed a missile attack targeting military sites in southern Israel in their first operational statement. The attack involved multiple ballistic missiles and was declared as an expression of support for Iran and its allied groups in the region.

The statement explained that the move was a response to what they described as an escalation of military actions and targeting of infrastructure in Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine. Yemeni forces claimed that the operation successfully hit its intended targets and was coordinated with simultaneous actions by their allies.

The group also warned that it would continue its attacks as long as what they termed “aggression against the resistance fronts” persists. Previously, Yemeni officials had announced their intention to join the ongoing conflicts when the time was right.

In related developments, Iranian media reported that on February 28, 2026, U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iranian territory resulted in the deaths of several senior officials and civilians. Iranian authorities stated that in retaliation, they targeted sites in Israel and some U.S. military bases in the region, and imposed restrictions on the passage of certain ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The escalation of conflicts in West Asia and the reduction of oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz have heightened concerns over rising regional tensions and their potential impact on the global energy market.
