Spain Reaffirms Opposition to War in Middle East, Calls for Unified EU Stance

Spain’s Foreign Minister has once again declared his country’s opposition to war in the Middle East and urged the European Union to adopt a common position against what he called a “one-sided war.” He emphasized that Europe should not be involved in a conflict that it does not own and in whose decision-making it has no part.

The Spanish official stated that the European Union is obliged to oppose such conflicts because their consequences directly affect European countries. According to him, the rising energy prices currently faced by European citizens are among the tangible repercussions of the crisis in the Middle East.

The Spanish Foreign Minister also stressed that other EU members must jointly condemn any war, whether in Ukraine or the Middle East. He underlined the necessity of adopting a unified European policy towards international crises.

Spanish authorities have previously opposed what they called “American warmongering” in the region. They have specifically expressed concern over any military intervention in the Strait of Hormuz and emphasized diplomatic solutions.
