Russian Air Defense Systems Shoot Down 87 Ukrainian Drones Overnight

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 87 Ukrainian drones last night across four regions. According to the ministry, these drones were detected and downed over parts of Krasnodar, Crimea, Bryansk, as well as the waters of the Sea of Azov.
In a statement released today, the operation was carried out while responding to what were described as “hostile targets.” Russian officials emphasized that protecting the nation’s airspace remains a top priority in Moscow’s defense agenda.
The RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, that the drone interceptions occurred during a nighttime air defense operation. No further details regarding possible damage or casualties have been disclosed.
This event takes place amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, where air strikes and the use of drones have become primary tools in the conflict.
