Dried Fruit Market Booms in Balkh Ahead of Eid al-Fitr

As the blessed Eid al-Fitr approaches, the dried fruit market in Balkh province has witnessed a significant increase in buyer activity. Many residents of the province are visiting markets these days to prepare for the celebration of Eid, focusing particularly on purchasing dried fruit items.
Sellers in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, report that with Eid drawing near, the demand for items such as raisins, almonds, walnuts, and other dried fruits has risen. According to them, this trend is observed annually in the final days of Ramadan.
Dried fruits are a key component of the Eid table for many Afghan families, and preparing them is part of the cultural traditions associated with celebrating Eid al-Fitr. Balkh, as one of the important provinces in northern Afghanistan, experiences increased activity in its commercial areas during such occasions every year.
